Why subscribe?

Ancilla Theologiae is Latin for “helper of theology” which refers to philosophy as the handmaiden of theology, a title Aquinas pronounced in his day and still echoes today. In our own adaptation of this ‘helper,’ we appeal to rational arguments to ground the revealed truths of Christian revelation. We believe God is greater than our rationality but not any less. And we wish to demonstrate this in all our projects and essays using clear and lucid language.

We use simple language to the extent that we can and employ sophistication to the extent that we trust that our readers have the abilities to grasp what we speak of. We trust God to sanctify our intellect for His purposes, so that we can safely recruit the services of the handmaiden in doing the work of theology. Amen.
